Product DescriptionJeff Rolka is the genuine article. His debut record Dandelion alluded to it, Somewhere in the Fade proves it in resounding style. Jeff?s growth as a writer is evident in every song, from the cynical Every Little Thing, to the sweet and Beatlesque Return to Me, his new found mastery of words and sounds is apparent from the first track. The sonic pallette is widely expanded through the use of some of San Francisco?s finest studio musicians and the adept work of his co-production partner Andrew Griffin. In many respects this record is incomparable to his first; louder, softer, more vulnerable and also more confident. Jeff has proven himself honest to a fault, and the stories of heart break, infidelity and redemption are enough to make anyone feel sorry for the guy. Strangely enough though, that sentiment is never evoked. Here is a writer who?s sharing his stories, crooning his laments, and non-judgementally opening his heart to anyone who will listen. Storytelling reminiscent of Townes Van Zandt, writing like the Beatles and Wilco, and a voice like an angel, that can scream and whine like the Devil himself, Jeff Rolka has something for everyone and is worth keeping on eye on as he continues to mature.
