CD ReviewsWhoa! Where did this come from? Big Chief | Laguna Niguel, CA | 01/31/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "I got pulled into piano jazz through some roundabout circumstance, and over the years had become comfortable with the various players. And then, here is this trio, out of nowhere! Technical virtuosity combined with actual musicality and inventiveness that has blown my mind. I like "alternative" and "punk" and "roots rock", and jazz. But, the quote "jazz" is often is constrained by parameters just like other genres, and one might not even be aware of those constraints. Well, these three are heading off on their own, and to such HUGE musical satisfaction! It's hard to say why this trio isn't legendary yet. Jean-Michele is as innovative as they come, and he has a muscular and sensitive bass and drums, that it just makes my hair stand on end. This is legendary playing. I'm no writer, and it's late, and I'm rambling. But if you enjoy jazz piano and adventure, there's nothing that comes close." Horowitz and monk Michael Eber | Teaneck, NJ United States | 06/28/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "These musicians are truly stretching the limits of jazz. Each member of the trio are both virtuosic and tasteful. Jean-Michel Pilc is like a mix between Vladimir horowitz and thelonious monk. His touch is very expressive and smooth, while he has the ability to explode with a chord at any second... keep in mind that through all of this, tastefulness is prevalent. the music is absolutely incredible and should really speak for itself." This album rules! Russell Foster Mofsky | boston, ma | 03/02/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "stright and to the point. yet from many different angles and reflected through many lenses. this album is elegant, poingnant, inspired, rehearsed, and more than anything...FUN. if you like players who feed off of each other and take chances galore than this is totally for you. i cannot recommend this album enough. what an amazing trio!"
