CD Reviews

What a Party!

"I am a Claude Bolling fan and yet was reluctant to get this as there were no audio clips. I'm so glad I did. It is not "typical" tasty-smooth jazz Bolling - there is definitely a more raucus dixieland feel to this rendition of Mozart - but it is all fun. My mother used to sing "Voi Che Sapete" and this zippy version is so swingin' I want to play it over and over! If you like Bolling or if you like Mozart, you will have a party with this one."
Jazzgang Amadeus?? same as "Two Beat Mozart - Dixieland Sty

"Be still, my beating heart!

I received an email from Amazon's "Recommendations For You" with this album, and I instantly recognized the cover art. Years ago, in the 1960's, my dad bought this one as a vinyl album, titled something like "Two Beat Mozart - Dixieland Jazz" or "...Dixieland Style" or some such - And it was the neatest thing this little pre-teen had ever heard at that point in her young life.

Somewhere around, I thought I still had my dad's vinyl album, but now I can't find it. I always thought it would be neat to either a) dub it to CD myself (but I have no LP Record player, much less the album itself.) and or b) see if they would ever re-release the album onto CD.

I've done internet searches over the years looking for Claude Bolling and at last, it appears my dreams have come true and they have re-issued the album (although apparently changed the title, perhaps to reflect the "political correctness" of avoiding the negative emotions evoked by words like "Dixieland".).

So I am anxious to get this album and listen to see if it is the same (so far, there is no sampling of this album available on Amazon.). If it is, I'll let you know.
