CD Reviews

Great scores, annoying vocals.
Jonathan Lane | Crestview Florida U.S.A | 01/04/2007
(3 out of 5 stars)

"It's just me, but I really love the scores for the movies on this CD, and that's why I bought it. I got the scores for Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky, and Porco Rosso. I love the songs I got from these movies. But the vocals from Kiki, Tortoro, and even the one from Nausicaa annoyed the hell out of me. And it's not because I don't speak the language, I loved the vocal from Spirited Away, but the vocals on this CD were just annoying. If I could get this CD with no vocals and more scores I would, but until then I'll skip the annoying parts to get to the good stuff. lol.

I'm going to break it down for you, and tell you what songs I liked and which ones I wish were left off the CD altogether.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

1. Opening from Nausicaa. This song is good in the middle, but there is this wired stuff going on in the beginning and end that doesn't have to be there.

2. A vocal from Nausicaa. Man was this annoying. I couldn't stand this song. I love Nausicaa and all but this was a really bad song.

3. Bird Person. This is possibly the best song on the CD. It's the closing from the movie.

Castle in the Sky.

4. The Girl Who Fell from the Sky. This is in the running for best song on the CD. The opening from Castle in the Sky.

5. Castle in the Sky. Another great score. Not as good as Bird Person, or The Girl Who fell from the Sky, but close.

6. Carrying You. The only good vocal on the whole CD. Not as good as the one in the movie, but still good. But why did they change it?

My Neighbor Tortoro

7, 8, 9. All very annoying vocals.

10. The Path of the Wind. Not the best score in the world, but it fits well with the others in this CD.

11. My Neighbor Tortoro. Yet again, another vocal.

Kikies Delivery Service

12, 13, 14. All very, VERY annoying vocals from kiki. Kiki is the only movie represented here that didn't get even ONE good song.

Porco Rosso

15. The Blue Sky of the Adriatic. Not what I expected to hear. This is a nice song, but it's just too weird

16. Marco and Gina. A VERY nice song from Porco Rosso. I loved this one.

Well there you go. Not the best CD in the world, but if you have the soundtracks for Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, like I do, you can make your own CD made up of Miyazaki's best songs. That's what I did, and I LOVE IT."
