CD ReviewsKeeps bringing tears to my eyes Gilles Herrada | New York City | 10/12/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "Ok, sure, we all know that (us, the French), Jane Birkin is a French monument. Only Birkin can scream her british-ness at every sound coming out of her mouth and at the same time ground herself always deeper in the emotional psyche of her adopted country. But here is the thing about Birkin, she is a celebration of faithful friendship. She created herself as the anima of Serge Gainsbourg, his female voice. She turned that into fireworks of sensitivity and fragility, giving to French singing a texture never heard before. And now, here is the thing about this album, she used her friendship with various artists to give birth to an incredible album. This friendship reunify all the songs around the delicateness of Birkin's voice. And it so works. You won't believe how much jumping for Mickey3D's voice to the one of Feist will feel so naturally beautiful. Just get it. I can't get over that woman, the genius of her soul and art.
