CD ReviewsJamillennium review Classic New Orleans Jazz Fan | 08/14/2000 (3 out of 5 stars) "I went and saw Jamil play in New Orleans and I really enjoyed the music; so I decided to buy the cd. The cd is quite enjoyable, but I would rather have heard more of Jamil's original music. Many of the tracks are covers from other jazz greats, and although I will always enjoy these, I feel Jamil should emphasize his own music more. The originals that were on this cd were very good, though." Superb Jazz, but the CD should've been titled "The Best of?" Classic New Orleans Jazz Fan | Beverly Hills, CA USA | 07/13/2001 (4 out of 5 stars) "I also experienced Jamil's music on a recent visit to the Maison Bourbon in New Orleans. In fact, it was the same evening shared with Milton Rich who drummed along a few tunes with the group. Jamil's style is extremely clean and flawless; his fellow musicians provide a warm and subtle background while clearly showing their incredible mix of talents, especially when in the spotlight. While Jamillennium is a masterful CD, engineering included, it lacks any uniformity in that I expected every track to reflect classic New Orleans-style jazz, not a myriad of jazz styles by other artists. My mistake, but the CD was promoted by Jamil all during his performance that evening, and so I naturally assumed contained similar recordings. If I could have any one source of New Orleans jazz (and not go to Disneyland), Jamil Sharif and Company would fit the bill. In this case, however, I've merely transferred a couple of tracks from Jamillennium onto a collection of other artists which works well when I'm in the mood for uplifting, classic New Orleans jazz only."
