Synopsis
Album Description For his second recording on Celestial Harmonies, James Newton found a location in equal contrast to his modern style. He went to the venerable church, San Lazzaro Degli Armeni in Venice, Italy. The small island housing the church became home to Armenia's priests and monks who kept their homeland's culture and religion alive during Armenia's years of oppression. Once again, the acoustics of the chapel provide an incredible depth and richness to Newton's sparkling performances. Most of the pieces are his own compositions, although Newton included what he titled The Spiritual Suite of Japanese-made muramatsu flutes. Similar CDs

CD ReviewsIn Venice- In rapture Kristen D. Wardlaw | Los Angeles, CA USA | 03/25/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is an extremely playable music compilation. It emphasizes the astounding range of talent found in James Newton. Classical, Jazz, Interpretive; he covers it all. I bought this for my daughter, an aspiring young flutist. I have to admit, I like it just as much as she does."
