CD ReviewsMastered From Vinyl -- Be Warned... Malridge Mace, IV | New York, NY United States | 09/10/2009 (1 out of 5 stars) "Poorly mastered cd-reissue of two very good albums by Jackie Moore. Unfortunately, you get all of the crackles and pops of this recorded from vinyl reissue, along with the music -- especially at the beginnings, ends and between tracks. As an aside, the track 'How's Your Love Life, Baby' is not the 12-inch version, but a short version that was found on the first issues of the lp. Sound quality of cd isn't bad, decent recording levels and EQ'd ok, but I expected more from the Expansion label. Be aware of what you're getting before purchasing. (Note that this review is for the CD issue, not the MP3 download -- Amazon has the cd release date weeks away even though I already have it in my possesion.)" Sound Quality is Fine. I Listened 5x! S. Sarabia | Portland, ME, USA | 09/22/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Contrary to another reviewer here, I bought the same twofer yesterday and am completely smitten by it. It's about time Jackie Moore's 1979 & 1980 albums have finally seen the light of CD format after only 30 years! Pathetic, isn't it? Anchored by the monster Disco smash hit, "This Time Baby" and a rousing, Gospel-flavored reworking of Anne Murray's #1 Pop Hit from the previous year, "You Needed Me," this twofer is absolutely glorious to own and I certainly intend no rudeness toward the previous reviewer. I turned up the volume and listened 5x to this CD and did not detect anything out of the ordinary, even with headphones. There is also a lot for the ears to savor here. My favorites include the hits, "This Time Baby," "How's Your Love Life, Baby?" and "Helpless." Other gems include "Joe," "Let's Go Somewhere and Make Love" and "Wrapped Up in Your Love," which is especially tight and funky and seasoned with the punchiest horns I've heard in ages. Though somewhat steep in price, this is a treasure from the the Disco/Early 80's R&B archives. It's sinful that CBS/Columbia hadn't released this earlier on, but it's a revelation that they are available now. It's about time! Jackie Moore is blessed with a powerful, hearty and raspy voice. R&B owes her props. Aside of Gwen McCrae and Betty Wright, the Florida sound would be naked without the woman who brought us "Sweet Charlie Babe" in 1973. I highly recommend this reissue. I'm overjoyed having purchased it and I'm especially happy that her music is now available to reach the masses of younger, newer fans who are exploring the early Soul of the eighties. She is a true vocal wonder and could easily have had many hits after these two albums had the label known exactly how to work with/promote her."
