Slight Tonal Difference

"This is a quartet date with Sonny Clark on piano recorded for Blue Note in 1962 but not released for almost 20 years hence the atypical cover art. Jack gets a somwhat different tone from the Alto Sax here. His soloistic identity is in tact but tonaly he sounds a bit like Sonny Stitt. Not a typical McLean outing but a pretty good one. Jack also appeared on Sonny Clark's COOL STRUTIN' session with Art Farmer for Blue Note recorded a few years earlier. The CD version has 2 new tunes as CD bonus tracks. The music is hipper than the cover art work- believe me"
