"Few pianists have found and projected the overall "wholeness" of the Goldberg Variations, all too often giving individual variations such idiosyncratic "interpretations" as to isolate them from the whole. Not so in this thoughtful, economical, and warmly humane recording by Rudolf Serkin protegee Beth Levin. Part of its attraction and ultimate success lies in it being a "live" recording, rather than a heavily-micro-edited studio fabrication. This performance has just moved to the top of my favorite Goldbergs list, and I cannot recommend it highly enough."
An elegant recording

"Beth Levin's performance of Bach's Goldberg Variations is wonderful. She has terrific technique. Her playing is sensitive, nuanced, at appropriate times powerful, and her interpretations well thought out. I am very glad I purchased this recording and recommend it highly.
