Cogent & Beautiful...

"I have heard several recordings of Bach's Musical Offering. Several (Savall's comes to mind) have been excellent. Others have fared less well.

Too often though--even in the best of recordings--I end up feeling like someone has turned on the shuffle of my iPod without me knowing.

This ordering and orchestration of these pieces is the most cogent I have ever heard. Instead of seperate pieces, one gets the feel of a whole. And this makes all the difference.

The Wiener Solisten play wonderfully. Complexity, emotion, and beauty all build towards the chosen end.

This recording could not be finer--in sound, performance, or in thoughtful musicianship. This is a highlight of my ever-growing Bach collection.

I give this disc my highest recommendation."
