Album DescriptionThis 2010 CD is the second of the Sing-Verein`s releases under Peter Kopp to feature religious works written by Johann Gottlieb Naumann and once again, this is the first time that the works chosen, Psalms 96 and 103, have been recorded. The psalms were written by a composer who was famous during his day but whose name unjustly faded into oblivion following his death; while court Kapellmeister at August III`s electorate of Saxony court, Naumman wrote no less than 21 masses, 9 vespers, offertories, psalm settings, litanies and hymns. The Sing-Verein was formed by music students and former Kruzianers in 1993. The ensemble`s aim is to revive the tradition of the circle of singers once cultivated by Christian Gottfried K"rner one of the formative influences on Dresden`s art and intellectual scene between 1785 and 1815.
