"For as old as J.D. was, feeling "Ole Man Death" around the corner; I believe that he did an outstanding job. Yes, his voice does falter a little. What comes through though is his great lyrical bass voice. Ah, yes, the Spirit is there. I enjoy listening to all of the songs on this last album. Hopefully, the Stamps Quartet will continue its 70+ year old tradition of bringing gospel music to all the followers of Christ."

"Having been a part of Southern Gospel for the past 30 years, I am certainly well aware of all the contributions that J.D. made to the business. This being his final contribution, is outstading, nothing short of fantastic. The "Final Sessions" selections only cover about 2% of the songs written by J.D., but each selection is special in its on way. Once again, J.D. brings us nothing but the very best in male quartet four part harmony. The Grammy folks really missed the boat by not awarding this work as "best of" in the Southern Gospel category."

"This CD is getting a workout. No one will ever know what an inspiration J.D. Sumner was to me. My parents raised me on this man as well as the other great gospel quartets of the 50s and 60s. J.D. and the Stamps are brilliant on the CD. What a shame to lose such a talent. If I could suggest one J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet CD, THIS ONE IS IT!"

"I wasn't sure that this last cd was what I liked. I like old Gospels and this was all new. I finally bought it and I listened to it...beautiful! Better then the Elvis' Gospel Favorites. When I listened to number four the cd got another dimension, he's singing about his own death...he died in November 1998! If you like Gospel even when you don't believe like me you will fall in love with this cd!Erwin"
