The Oboe Concerto in F major No. 2 is fantastic, likely written for his friend and oboist Johann Christian Fischer, and found with his other compositions in London where he died. The Larghetto is a beautiful, melodic piece with excellent phrasing and dynamics of Anthony Robson. The Flute and Bassoon Concertos are well done as well respectively by Rachel Brown and Jeremy Ward, backed up by the solid period orchestra of The Hanover Band. Fine recording and exhilirating woodwind concertos. Hidden treasure! Spurred his friend and admirer, Mr. Mozart to do his woodwind concertos." |
