"This is a packaging of three individual CD's featuring Itzhak Perlman performing trditional Jewish melodies: Tradition, In the Fiddler's House, and Live in the Fiddler's House. The first, Tradition, performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, is the most polished of the three, and its selections would probably be the most recognizable. This, however, should not take anything away from the other two.The two Fiddler's House CD's are performed with various Klezmer groups and are most spirited and enjoyable. Klezmer music, which emanates form Eastern Europe, has been described as Jewish dixieland music and contains the same free-flowing improvisation that one would find in a dixieland performance.Whether you are familiar with this music or not, these are excellent examples, and, as with most Jewish songs and stories, contain both a laugh and tear."
