"When you discover an album like this, it is so easy to get over-excited and start flinging superlatives around like so much cottage cheese in a food fight. But 'Freudian Corduroy' is a great album. It's not perfect, it has flaws, but they only make it more human, more interesting and, frankly, a better listen. From the opening track 'This is Where Came in' which comes on like a mad preacher telling a sordid tale of tabloid hacks and infidelity to the closing, violin, cello and guitar of 'Moment of Release' there isn't a bad track on this record, not one that seems sandwiched in or out of place. The lyrics are on a par with Early-Mid period Costello and the band stretches its legs with acoustic rock (in a good way) on "The Station", skewed ska on "Similarly Inclined" (a potential single if ever I heard one), demented waltz-time on 'Let's to Bed', angry Clash-inspired rants on 'Boyfriend' and intricate riffery and wilfully obsure imagery on 'Dust'. This isn't a song here that doesn't deserve dissection and commentary all of its own, which really says something. Best still, you get the feeling that they have only just begun and that their best work is yet to come. ist are clever without being annoying, rock without losing the roll, musically experimental without disappearing up their own backsides. If this album isn't discovered and taken to heart soon, its a crime.Forget the new Rock Revolution. ist believe in Music, full stop. Which is the way it should be."

"Review it? I'll try!
I've had this album for a few weeks now, and my favourite songs keep changing. My friends have different favourites too, although every song is heart-wrenchingly brilliant. These guys have lived through some bitter times, and they know how to tug the heart strings while still being true to themselves and rocking out! I'm not talking in a heavy kind of way - sometimes it's very subtle.Right now, Dust is my favourite trackm when he goes
'its taken all our strength from us / to keep this sentiment from Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uu uu uu uuuu uuuust'
near the end of the song. That's one of those moment on the album when tears fill your eyes. Other moments are Station, and This Sin, the singer's just intensely emotional and the band creates this wall of sound which is soo sad.Cheerier moments (sort of) are Boyfriend (I hate your f*%king boyfrieeeend / Your Boyfriend is a c*^t) and Don't look at me that way - which is quite Beatles-esque.Brilliant brilliant brilliant album, but you should have made wallpaper wendy a full song :("
