Synopsis
Album Description Showcasing clever lyricism and engaging melodies, Good Morning Beautiful is a sure-fire indie pop winner. Good Morning Beautiful makes resourceful use of the talents of every one of its five singer-songwriters. Truly a collaborative band, each member has co-written and sing on at least one song on the self-produced Good Morning Beautiful. Irving's blending of wildly catchy pop harmonies and a solid rhythm section produce their special brand of pop magic. Even the most jaded and cynical pop scenesters will find themselves moving to the beat of these contagious tunes. Jumping smoothly from the animated L-O-V-E to the curiously affecting Did I Ever Tell You I'm in Love with Your Girlfriend to the melancholic beauty of Holiday, this record has it all. The effortless segue from the upbeat, energetic pop sound of A Very Frivolous Distribution of Sundries to the tenderly graceful Faster than Steam elegantly demonstrates Irving's range and creativity. CD ReviewsLa La La's don't get better than this... Brandon Perkins | Los Angeles, CA | 12/02/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "In a genre overcrowded with retro reaching and one too many copies of "Pet Sounds," Southern California's Irving hits the nail on the head. The Andy Paley produced "L-O-V-E" is certainly a happy highlight, but its one of many. Considering that there are five singer songwriters on the LP, "Good Morning Beautiful" is amazingly cohesive. The band's website uses words like "shimmery loveliness" and "best f****ing band in the world"; and while the former is right on point, the latter isn't too far off. If you don't believe me, you should see the spectacular quintet rock a live show. If you are unfamiliar with the group, a live show is a great place to start, because after their set, you'll surely be marching to the merch table. But if you've already played this CD until it skips, you should check out "I Hope You're Feeling Better Now" or label mate's (eenie meenie records) From Bubblegum to Sky's "Me and Amy and the Two French Boys." Either way: happy or sad, pop or indie pop, rain or shine, Irving released an album that hovers above the pack and sky rockets right to your heart." Solid Rob | Tucson, AZ United States | 04/18/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "I got into Irving after hearing "The Curious Thing About Leather" off their EP. I immediately bought that disc, and within a week of listening to it, I bought this CD. A lot of albums you have to listen to a few times to really get into, but this is like putting in a Beatles album - you know it's genius from the start. It only gets better as you begin to decipher what this band is 'really' trying to say. If you've got a girl/boyfriend, beware of #5 and embrace #6. They get the emotions flowin'. Oh,baby."
