CD Reviews"Dead" would be the right word Renfield | Edmonton, Canada | 03/10/2009 (1 out of 5 stars) "In 1993, Dickinson announced he was leaving the band, so Harris and the band embarked on the Real Live Tour, where they gave a super laughable performance, and this collection of performances showcases it. Not only is the production crappy, but the band performs incredibly sloppily here.
Prime example would be Remember Tomorrow. They perform the verses too slow and the chorus too fast. Bruce sounds incredibly tired here, and like he just can't wait for the tour to be over. Bruce I love you, you're my hero, but I'm glad you don't sing like THAT anymore. Where Eagles Dare is a prime example too, they cut too much out of the song and whilst I love Janick, he just ruins every song here, WED included. Nicko misses the beat multiple times, Dave misses his riffs, and altogether the band just give a laughably bad performance. And the production is horrible too. You can hear Steve speaking during the spoken word in the beginning of NOTB, though I can't make out what he says. And like ARLO, you can't hear the audience and it sounds like they're playing in the bathroom. Overall, this DOES have a good setlist, but just steer clear of this one. Only buy it if you can find the vinyl replica with The Soundhouse Tapes as a bonus disc (with ARLO having MJ as a bonus disc)." |
