"Irena Santor is known as the first lady of Polish song. She started appearing in the Mazowsze folk song and dance ensamble and went on to become one of the most popular performers in Poland. She has recorded a huge number of records and appeared all over the world. Santor's voice is forever fresh, young and warm. It is a pleasure listening to her! She still goes on recording successfully - her last CD, Cafe Santor, including many French standarts, was released in 2000.
This CD presentss some of the most classical recordings done from the 60's until 1996. One of her earlier songs, Embarras, is presented here twice in a duet form (once with Zbigniew Wodecki, recorded in the 80s, and another one with Edyta Gorniak, 1996). Pity the solo version is not here. All other songs were great hits as well. A respectable part of the CD is dedicated to songs about Warsaw, an ever popular chapter in Santor's repertoir.
An excellent CD for those who encounter Santor for the first time or for those who wish to have better recordings of songs previously released on LPs."
