Tribal Vibes with the Inlakesh touch
Shannon Carey | IL, USA | 08/25/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)
"This CD starts out right off the bat with an upbeat and creative track. Luckily, the creativity continues throughout the CD. Like most of Inlakesh's tracks, the songs are by no means pure didje. However, the ambient background and percussion which underlies the skillful but not spectacular didje playing was well chosen and accents the mood of the CD. For the most part, the mood is contemplative, yet active, combining sonorous/natural ambience with a strong and (in some places) almost breakbeat percussion.Normally, I don't like accompanied didje, but this CD is an exception. All of the background was skillfully chosen and neither intrusive nor hokey (you know, that badly-put-together synthesizer stuff). However, as in at least one of their other CD's that I know of, there is one "new agey" section which I do not particularly care for simply because it is hokey, and the whispering also seems to disrupt the flow and concentration of the CD.One more thing: There is a track on the CD with some Tuvan throat singing. If you have not heard Tuvan throat singing, I would be the first to tell you that it sounds great with a didje (the underlying principles are much the same). And if you have, then this should be incentive for you to buy this CD.All in all- good didje playing, comparatively good accompianing ambience/instrumentals, good CD."

"This cd accomplishes its mission of being a very trance producing CD..The track with Steve Roach is exceptional..The great part about this Cd is that it changes enough to keep it from becoming boring and repititous.. If your into this type of music you will like this one."

"This is my first dijeridoo CD, I was introduced to it by Rob himself at an Art show in Kansas City, Missouri....I asked him to play for me, it was indeed mesmerizing. I purchased a CD, and so did all of my friends. The CD is very calming, trance like, I never tire of listening to it. CC"
