CD ReviewsMy Favorite Trumpet Player William A. Adams | Bainbridge Island, WA USA | 05/21/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Ingrid was here in Seattle recently and showed off tunes from her new album "Project One" which should be released soon. The pre-release CD is dynamite. But hearing her play made me pull out "Higher Grounds" again and re-listen. It's better even than I remember it. She has amazing control and gets temendous emotional subtlety out of the instrument, and yet can shake the windows with her sound, too. I've never seen anyone work a mute as though squeezing each note with her fingers as it emerges. I think she's especially good on flugelhorn. On this record she is accompanied by an excellent flute line on several tracks, and the piano accompaniment is also perfect. The CD was well-reviewed in Downbeat shortly after it came out. This is straight-ahead contemporary jazz, not anything "smooth," so it is a listening adventure. It's way more exciting than anything Wynton has done lately! Also I want to add, she is a sweet person to talk to, although that has nothing to do with the music. I think she will become a major star." Absolutely beautiful... William A. Adams | 10/07/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "Ingrid has done it again, with her incredible talent and never-ending stream of beautiful music. The band works great as a unit to produce results of the absolute highest calibre. An album worth purchase and obsession, without a doubt."
