"Up until now I have never heard of the band Inertia. You would think I would have since I am a huge fan of industrial and EBM music. I came across the band's greatest hits album "Decades of Machines" last weekend and thought I would check them out. I have to say that it took me several listens for the music to sink into my head. Inertia's music isn't as accessible as KMFDM or VNV Nation. The music is for the most part is aggressive electro-industrial with EBM elements peppered through out the album. The first several songs on the album has grown on me but after track 8, the album becomes too long and the music...well, frankly repetitive. The first cd alone is nearly 80 minutes long. This is one case where there is too many songs. Two of the best tracks on the album is the irresistably infectious "Seven Sin VII" and "Shakalaka Baby!" with the female vocals. The second disc consists of remixes which I absolutely found repetitive and pointless. While I do enjoy the artists who remixed the songs, I just didn't find myself enjoying the remixes. The remix disc could have easily been left off. Even though I thought Inertia's songs started to sound the same, I still thought the band was still worth investigating for this new listener and fan."
