CD ReviewsAn accomplished departure. Adam Preble | Atlanta, GA United States | 07/01/2002 (4 out of 5 stars) "In this album Indigo Swing grows from their previous outings with a fresh, more energetic approach to their sound, which I think appeal to anyone looking for an alternative to the standards of the swing dance floor. The faster songs ("Pop's At The Hop," "Hot Pot Boogie," the understated speed of "I Know My Love Is True") scream with energy and beg for a quick double-step on the floor. The gem of this album is "Ruby Mae": slow as anything, but smoother than your partner's spinning skirt. It begs for a soulful dance, and should not be listened to when alone. There is a down side to this album. I find that it just doesn't quite flow the way All Aboard! does. There are a few tracks I could do without ("Big Hair Mama," "Stayin' Up...", and "So Far..."), but aside from them, the songs stand well on their own, each with a 'spark' of energy. As always, the musicians' mastery of their respective instruments is apparent. Don't buy this album expecting All Aboard! Disc 2. There is a degree of emotion - hints of broken hearts - missing from Red Light! that was present in All Aboard!, but I had my time getting over someone while while wallowing in All Aboard!, and I'm ready for something upbeat. This is simply *good* music." Not quite worth the effort Adam Preble | 06/15/1999 (3 out of 5 stars) "As a big fan of Indigo Swing, I had been eagerly waiting for this release. Ilistened to it for two weeks before I could review it...I thought I might be missing something. I have finally come to realize that it's not me, that something just isn't there. This release attempts a departure from everything that set them apart as a premiere swing band.Hey guys, the word "swing" is in your name! Care to cut an actual swing track? This is not to say I didn't like it at all, but it won't call you onto the dance floor like "All Aboard" did. I am also sick of the tired old excuse of "yeah, but you should see them live". Well, I have seen em, but I'm buying a CD, so whats the point?Bottom line is that if you're looking for the same energy & style that came out in their prior releases, you will be disappointed. Its almost an entirely different sound." The Best Thing Since Ice Cream! Adam Preble | 07/25/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "Dare I make such a statement? I love ice cream and I loved Indigo Swing's All Aboard. Little did I know that it got better. Red Light! completely amazed me. I can't say enough good things about it and I couldn't come up with a bad thing if I tried. You simply cannot listen to this cd and not be moved by the mix of swing, rock, and Latin beats. It's smooth and refined and appears to be mood-altering as well. Red Light! it well worth your money; it's fun and listening to it feels great."
