"Even though I am not much of a fan of Salsa music, especially today's salsa exponents, I can't help but be captivated by La India. She is one of the most popular female vocalists ever. But her voice really shines in here. Her "soneo", which means vocal improvising (not scat - it involves improvising lyrics based on a refrain) is absolutely enthralling. At the time of this CD she was not yet too well-known - nowadays she is, in the words of Celia Cruz (a pillar of Latin music), the undisputed Princess of Salsa. Her more recent albums have included ballads that lean more to latin-pop, but fortunately not sappy or sugary at all. Her intense delivery is always a delight for the ears and the soul. The only thing that made me not give this a full score is the fact that we get the song "Solitude" in 3 versions. I think that's a bit much of the same. But nonetheless, this is a fine introduction to one of the most fiery, and passionate vocalists you are likely to find. La India is definitely a rare talent, and she is from Puerto Rico, so it makes me proud."

"La India pours her heart and soul into the bi-lingual version of "Soledad." If you enjoy ballads, this is it. Eddie Palmieri with his smooth sound is without a doubt, delicous! Together they work up a swinging "Vivir Sin Ti." Check it out."

"After seeing La India this past June, I had to add to my collection!! This one was essential. I had heard some of these songs at her concert, and loved them, even more than some of her new ones! This cd is pura musica, a lot of dancing, more salsa than ever!! I love, Primera Rumba, Yemaya y Ochun and more!! This one is definently worthy to your collection!! It is rather hard to find also. Even though, I can't believe it is from 1996, La India looks so different than she does now, and in her other cds! wow! oops just realized, is that not her body attached to her face on the cover of the cd? check it out! Ya llego!!"
