La Princessa de La Salsa, IS BACK!
El Brujo | Lowell, Ma | 04/06/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have always loved India, from her early freestyle "Latin Hip Hop Days" and all her Salsa albums. Each being different and beautiful in their own rite. Latin Song Bird is India's latest gift to us, and let me tell you girl, if you are reading this. We have missed you. This album is beautiful, and you will get some of India's traditional Salsa songs, but she lets us know that her voice is not only good in Salsa, it is good in all Latin genre of music. Hence the title of the album, Latin Song Bird. She gives us an album that has a mix of flavor for all Latinos out there. In this album there is Salsa, Ballada, Merengue, Bolero, Bachata, and Pop, a bit for everyone. The first track on the album is 1. "Seduceme", a hypnotic Salsa song that is the first albums single and getting the album out to a good start. 2. "Tracion", is another Salsa song, that has that traditional India feel to it, this is one of my favorite. 3. "El Anillo" is one of those songs that reminds me of my mom, why because it is the style of bolero she loved. She gives Bolero a strong female touch that has not been felt since the 70's with La Lupe. 4. "El Hombre Perfecto", okay I really dislike Bachata music, but India, has made it less whiny, her voice is strong, and would make Marc Anthony's hair stand on it's arms. Waite until you here the Merengue version. I think the reason this version of Bachata is good, is because of the lack of those Hawaiian guitars that I really dislike, and is used so much in Bachata music. Thank you India for not using them. 5. "Soy Mujer", is another Salsa tune. Latinas will love it, it is an anthem just for them.. 6. "La Gran Tirana" Okay India has remade many of the legendary 70's singer La Lupe's songs, and although no one could ever give any of La Lupe's songs justice as has done La India. But India I love you girl, but no offense there is only one La Lupe.7. "Que Me Importa", not bad, it is a catch6y Salsa tune, but it has to grow on you. Her voice is excellent, but the music behind her, seams a bit bland.8. "Seduceme Pop Version" This is the version on the charts, and it is slow, melodramatic, and one of those songs I play over and over. Actually this song is the reason why I bought this c.d.9. "Enseniame a Olvidar" is a twist of Mexican Ballada, and Bollero, that is really catchy. The chorus of the song, is really catchy. Love it..10. "El Hombre Perfecto Merengue Version". I love this up-beat Merengue song, mixed with a bit of Bachata. This song should get more airplay, probably one of the strongest tracks. 11. "Razones Tengo" Slow start, but is rises as the song goes along. Not bad, but not one of my favorite tracks. 12. "Confiando en Ti" Pop sounds a bit like what Shania Twain of Faith Hill would sing if they sang in Spanish. I like this song, it is not have a Latin feel to it, more of a slow pop song. 13. "Tracion" I like the Salsa version way better, this is a slower pop, that sounds better in Salsa.14. Navidad Sin Verte. A modern day "Aginaldo" Traditional Puerto Rican bluesy, and soulful Christmas song about the lost love. Love, it Love it, Love it..."
Latin Song Bird is worth buying

"India's Latin Song Bird- Mi Alma y Corazon is certainly worth buying. Often with Latin music, multiple versions are made of a song: one pop version, one as aa ballad, than a merengue edition. Such is Latin music in 2004. This CD includes both versions of Seduceme, Traicion, and El Hombre Perfecto, so you won't end up dissapointed that the version you like isn't here. My personal favorites are "Seduceme", and "El Hombre Perfecto"."
Gracias India por un disco fenomenal

"This album is la India's best thus far in her music career. It has soul, charisma, Latin flavour, passion and most of all "sabor tropical". La India has showcased her multidimensional talent as an artist and singer and has also crossed over into other genres. I did not know what to expect from this album but I anticipated an extraordinary production since I started hearing wonderful comments about "Latin Songbird". I can proudly add to the already great feedback that this album is a potential Grammy award winner for the best salsa and tropical album of the year. I listened to the album through and through in admiration and with pride for a well done production. The genre here is clearly salsa but there are other rhythms such as bolero, balada, merengue and some soul/r&b (# 8 Seduceme). La India's voice in this album is really outstanding and each song is sung with soul & power typical of La India. If you are considering owning this album, you won't regret this purchase. If you have forgotten la India's music remember some great songs like: Vivir lo nuestro, Ese hombre and Nunca voy a olvidarte. This is a tremendous album by a tremendous singer."
