The Heaviest Of Them All

"These albums showcase In Flames original style which was melodic death. This album, or albums, have songs heavier then songs on any of their other albums. It features classics such as "In Flames", which is one of the best songs on this album. "Starforsaken" begins with a folk sound and then morphs into a brutal amazing song. "Upon an Oaken Throne" is my favorite of all their songs on this album, and is my favorite In Flames song with the exception of "Episode 666". "Behind Space" is a brutal song that is flawless. It ends with a great folk melody. The songs "Everlost Part 1" and "Everlost Part 2" are both amazing, while being completely different. "Everlost Part 1" is a loud heavy song that keeps its strength while being slow. It ends off with Stromblad doing what he does best, playing acoustic guitar. This leads up to "Everlost Part 2" which is a beautiful song featuring Stromblad playing some of the best acoustic guitar ever with a beautiful voice singing over it. The lyrics to the song are beautiful, and even fans of death metal such as me, enjoy the song. It is funny, most people would not suspect that people that listen to death metal had an emotional side of music.
All of these new fans of In Flames say that their old stuff was terrible. This brings a tear to my eye. Anybody who does not enjoy the classics on this album should never listen to In Flames. This album is flawless and rocks."
Don't buy this here--it's cheaper in the stores!

"This is a melodic Death Metal classic, and for that I award the 5 stars. However, I've price-shopped the stores around my home (So. Cal.) and it's selling for average price. It's almost the same edition with Lunar Strain and Subterranean together on one disc. Actually, the one I purchased is better because it includes an 18th track from Korea called "Eye of the Beholder." Yet it's only $15.99-17.99. Why the price jump?

By all means, get this incredible album, but avoid getting screwed while yer at it. Don't pay $35.00+ for it. For that price, you could buy 2-3 In Flames CDs & spread the love. It's hard enough to find & afford many of these great old albums already. Who is continually dropping the ball on great metal CDs and letting them go to pot?

Here are some other CDs that are either out-of-print or going OOP and demanding too high a price. Don't pay $99.99 for a Nuclear Assault CD--just burn it if you can find it. We metalheads should start an online DB/upload for albums like this so they don't get lost. Who could justifiably care if we swap files if noone is getting any damn royalties anyway? If something that actually works like this exists, please let me know.

"If only In Flames were still like this...

I SO love this cd and find myself returning to it alot.

All the tracks are excellent! tho ya kinda have to be in the mood for the key-violin intro's/song(Hagarlaten). They are very beatifull but not for evryone, small detail tho because the rest of the music is so stunning it doesn't matter.

Quote"The first album, Lunar Strain, was the first the world ever heard of this talented band, and features very prominent guitars (courtesy of the master Jesper Stromblad) and very high-pitched vocals (is that Anders?)">>Mikael Stanne(now in DT).

Pitty the booklet is very thin and doesn't have any lyrics but you can view them on the internet.

conclusion: GET THIS CD."
