"The first track(and only real new song) Is Goliaths Disarm Their Davids, this is the BEST In flames song ever written. The other songs include Gyroscope which is included on "Whoracle." The Acoustic Medley which is decent but not anything amazing. And a live version of behind space, again decent but not the main attraction. Also this CD is shaped like The band's Jester Head logo which is also really cool."
My only gripe is..........

"The CD is't round!! Unless you have a discman or a tray style CD player, you'll have a really hard time listening to this one. I can't even listen to this in my car (I tried and I had to take my car's cd player apart to get it out) Oh well, the price you'll pay for basically one new song. The one song, by the way IS one of the best songs EVER."
BLACK ASH INHERITANCE is great, and the look of it is better

"The CD is shaped like the diamond shaped emblem featured on each of In Flames' covers. Just to look at this "ninja-star" of a CD is cool. Not to mention the opening track: "Goliaths Disarm Their Davids" which I want playing at my funeral. Gyroscope is also another classic track on Black Ash which is also on "Whoracle". The Acoustic Medley and the "Live" version of Behind Space make you want this awesome cd to have more tracks to it."
Just Get It With "The Jester Race"

"As most In Flames fans know by now, this entire EP has been re-released on the remastered edition of IF's 1995 masterpiece The Jester Race. So don't freak out if you want this album but you don't have 50+ dollars lying around, because you get it all, except for the amazing CD case / packaging thing this EP supposidly comes in. So yeah, just go ahead and get this with "The Jester Race", because it does have everything the original has, but if you want THIS version because of the case or whatever, collect some money and go right ahead. But yes, this EP is awesome, but definetly NOT worth $50, as the only real exlusive track is "Goliaths Disarm Their Davids". The track "Gyroscope" was also released in exactly the same form on 1997's "Whoracle", and the "Acoustic Medley" is a few songs from "The Jester Race", such as "Artifacts of the Black Rain" and "Moonshield" medlied together on the acoustic guitar. Then there's "Behind Space" live, which is a great song, but the live quality is horrid. It's cool to hear IF live and raw, but it's really not all that special. So yeah, just pick this up with "The Jester Race" and save a buck."
A novelty, in retrospect.

"At the time I bought this (from the now defunct Nightfall Records, Minneapolis, MN), I think I paid $10 for it. It was going out of print (or was already) and I think I bought one of the two remaining in the store. At the time I was really into In Flames and I had basically bought every other album available at the time. I don't own any of the remasters, I have all the original releases with the exception of Lunar Strain and Subterranean (I bought the re-release split from '99). I promptly stopped buying albums after Reroute To Remain. I still think of this little gem fondly though, despite In Flames' "rerouting" of their style. Yes, it doesn't play in car stereos and yes, your average CD changer might spin it wrong but that didn't stop me at the time and completists or collectors shouldn't be thwarted as I would think the vast majority won't be buying it to listen to it. I just ripped mine to MP3 way back when. Nowadays you can just buy the The Jester Race remaster/split but back then, you had to buy this Jester Head shaped EP if you wanted to listen to Goliaths Disarm Their Davids off of an actual legit piece of media. The song is arguably one of In Flames' best and the fact that it's more readily available now to the newer audience (or the older audience who just missed their chance originally) is a win for us all. Like my review title implies though, in retrospect, it's a novelty item not only because it's an artifact of the In Flames that WAS but also because it's been re-released."
