"Having been an Imperials fanatic since being old enough to know what music is, to say it's great to have all these songs in one collection is a massive understatement. I have personally seen every Imperials "foursome" in their history LIVE at least once and in several instances, many times. This collection represents the "best of" during their years at Word music. Many fans of this style of music first heard it from the Imperials during the Russ Taff era, 1976-1981. This collection begins with this time slot and continues through the late 80's. As another reviewer mentions, many great songs by the group were omitted from this collection, but with as many hits as the Imperials have had through the years, it would probably take a 6-8 CD collection to get them all in! If you really want a great history of the group, combine this LEGACY recording with the 1999 release entitled THE IMPERIALS---GOSPEL MUSIC HALL OF FAME COLLECTION. This 2-CD collection gives you some of their greatest hits from 1964 when they began through 1976. So.......(you can do the math), having these 2 collections would give you many of their greatest songs from 1964 through 1989. Get both and settle in for many hours of phenominal listening pleasure. "I played in several contemporary gospel groups in the 80's, two of them were sort of Imperials "cover" bands with the lead singer, Steve Munds, being a very close friend of Russ Taff (Russ produced Steve's solo album). This CD has some of their truly greatest hits, the disco stuff, some old-time gospel, and great harmonies. It is a joy to slip it into the CD player, crank up the amp and let it rip again for old times' sake. This is a 2 disc set, which covers lots of Imperials years. You will not regret it, and will in fact really enjoy the music."
