"This is a register of an opera of the brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Gomes, performed only by brazilian artists, in great effort to show what they can do. Only great artists. Paulo Fortes, the most famous of them, is considered by many as one of the great baritones of the century, and here you can see why. But the other singers are also very good in their roles. The soprano, Niza de Castro Tank, deserves a special mention in my opinion. She shows great technique and a very nice, sweet voice, that is perfect to the role of Cecy. Finally, the maestro Armando Belardi conducts the opera in such a way that enhances the atmosphere of the grandeur of brasilian nature. The Symphony that opens the opera is a clear example of it. It sounds much different, much greater than in the conduction of John Neschling, the other register available of this opera (that, except for Placido Domingo, is terrible).
This is a great opera, as Verdi himself admited, and this is the register to have, NOT the one of John Neschling."
