CD Reviews

Never thought I'd love a re-mix album

"By the time I came across Icehouse in the late 80's, they had already pretty much broken up. It took me a while but I eventually bought all their old albums and became a fan. To be honest, when I found this cd, I didnt really read the fine print about it being a dance remix of Icehouse songs. Had I read that info at the time I might have never bought it. Sorry, I cant really stand other people remixing other artists songs and especially turning them into dance club mixes.

Having said that I am shocked to find myself unable to stop listening to this cd. What these guys have done to some of Icehouses best songs is nothing short of brilliant.

Songs like "love in motion" and "lay your hands on me" are addictive. "Hey little girl" isnt bad but quite often the one I skip a lot.

If your a fan of Icehouse then I advise giving it a try. Wary of dance remixes? I was...now I love it."
Terrible!!!

"
It's a total deception.

Imagine, Icehouse's classics cuts, mixed with now-a-day danceable sounds by the best Djs from Australia. What could be fallen?...everything.

The result is a such pair of 'Bad Words' for the real Icehouse fans, personally i only like the remixes made by the band itself.

But these ones doesn't have any respect from the original sounds, and in no way reach to be 'new versions'.

I don't understand the obsession for turning the classics in dancefloor's garbage (the fashion of the 90's marketing).

This one is worst that the 'Full Circle' compilation (at least there was a couple of interesting mixes inside), and that's saying too much.

The only star i've given to this one is maybe for the new track 'Lay Your Hands On Me' (definitly not from the best of Icehouse, but lets think it's a 'experiment' with dance)and Street Cafe -Smash'n'Grabb Mix- (clossest thing to 'worth the mix' in this cd).

If you're party people, you could find it funny, but If you're a complete Icehouse fan, I suggest you to save your money."

"I am a huge Icehouse fan, but, whoever came up with the idea for this project and allowed it to happen should be executed. All of the great Icehouse songs have been so severely screwed up they are barely recognizable. It is a travesty of incredible magnitude."
