CD ReviewsAn unforgettable listening experience 10/25/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "After all of these years, Hephaestus is still my favorite album.Give it 2-3 serious listenings, and you'll be hooked forever. The album is not meant to be listened to one track at a time - and it therefore demands over 70 minutes of your time to complete it - but every listen is an amazing experience. The album takes you on a journey of self discovery, liberation, and re-creation... and finishes off by setting you up for the next cycle.Get this album!" Beautiful A. F. you | Pangea | 11/16/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "After 10 years, I would still consider Hephaestus among my favorite albums. From the unorthodox chordings and strange C tuning to the startling crack and amazingly dry tone of the drum kit, this record still moves me. It's somewhere inbetween jazz and sludgy metal, yet sounds like neither.
Imagine Black Sabbath, and the Melvins meet Bitches Brew era Miles Davis. Thoughtful music. Alternatingly beautiful and angry. I'm listening to it right now... and the words escape me. All I can say for sure is that this is probably the best guitar tone I've ever heard. 70+ continuous minutes of pure bliss. Stoners take note. Just buy it and see for yourself." |
