"This is a fantastic record. Gillan is at the top of his lungs here, he was 32 at the time, he was at his best. His band of Bernie Torme on guitar, McCoy on bass, Towns on keyboards and Underwood on drums was simply fantastic. And this shows in these live performances.Unfortunately, according to Gillan's own self-biography, things were not good within the band... the musicians always asked for more money and were not satisfied, what would lead to the band's dissolution. First, Torme left, in came Janick Gers. Then, after the albums DOUBLE TROUBLE and MAGIC, Gillan (the band) was gone.LIVE AT BBC is very good, the only problem is the duplication of songs. OF course we're not talking about an official live release at the time, but a release made by bassist John McCoy in the nineties. I wonder if Gillan is earning any royalties upon this one....HIghly recommended!"
Very good but..

"Since finding Gillan best albums is almost impossible (Mr. Universe and GLORY ROAD, mainly. FUTURE SHOCK is a little bit less difficult), I was obligued to buy this bootleg, that has material from the first two aforementioned albums. The band live is sounding really great, altough there is a lot of improvisation, extending the songs. Also, in CD 1, for example, there are two shows, qwith exactly the same songs. SAo. inthis CD we have THREE versions of the song "Mr. Universe!" Anyway. that's the best I could lay my hand upon, while I'm still searching for GLORY ROAD."
