Album DescriptionOne of Liverpool's favorite song writing sons returns this Spring with an EP of new recordings in the style of his debut solo album Tales Told (released last October). Following the disbanding of the Lightning Seeds, Ian's new material sees him stripping away all of the pop sensibilities which characterized himself and the band throughout the Britpop era, and getting back to a more honest, natural and inevitably more beautiful form of song writing. Tales Told was released in the Autumn of last year to a shower of critical acclaim, and the new Smoke Rings EP picks up where the album left off. The EP features the title track lifted from the album along with Broudie's inimitable re-workings of Denis Wilson's 'A Time To Live In Dreams', The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band's 'Shifting Sands', and a new Broudie composition 'Spinout'. Ian Broudie has produced Mercury Award nominated albums for The Coral and The Zutons for which members of both bands returned the favor by contributing to Tales Told. He has also produced Echo & The Bunnymen's finest albums (Crocodiles and Porcupine), Terry Hall, The Fall, Dodgy, and The Subways amongst many others. Sony. 2005.
