Following the enormous commercial success of Big Youth?s ?Screaming Target?, producer Augustus Clarke wasted little time in bringing Jamaica?s other up-and-coming DJ, I Roy into the studio to record an album. The resulting sessions produced the equally impressive highly acclaimed Gussie Presenting I Roy LP, which in 1973 established the DJ as one of the biggest names on the island?s music scene. Now the album finally sees issue in the UK in its original (Jamaican) colour sleeve, with the original 12 tracks now bolstered by the remainder of I Roy?s recordings for Gussie from the period, along with the recordings that originally provided the backing tracks for the DJ?s seminal debut LP.
