Masters at their craft.
D. Andrew Lewis | A red state | 03/18/2003
(4 out of 5 stars)

"First let me start off with saying I am *not* too big on "pop-punk"... I grew up on the Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, the Subhumans, the Clash, etc. etc. etc... and also had a healthy respect for the Ramones. (Yes, all of these were, to a degree, "pop," but certainly not to the point of what exists today.)With that said, I think this album is marvellous. I give it "only" four out of five stars because this particular genre of punk rock just does not have enough lyrical depth to earn a perfect score... the album was released in, what, 1998? And now the year is 2003, and this album has not gotten old for me (much like the early Ramones albums). That fact alone is worthy of a four-star rating. This album is not earth-shattering, and none of the lyrics will move you to any kind of activism or change your socio-political viewpoints. The Huntingtons are almost more craftsmen than they are artists, as all their material (to the point of this album) has been "forced" (for lack of a better term), in a way, to fit into a Ramones-esque style musically and lyrically. With that said, they do what they do *wonderfully*. I would even say better than the Ramones if I didn't fear divine retribution. The only problem I have with this album is the song "Annie's Anorexic." It's terribly catchy, but the lyrics are a bit crass and disturbing, as they seem to make light of a serious considition."
