Huelyn's Still Rockin' and Still Writing Great Songs

"I met Huelyn Duvall at a Dallas Rockabilly show years ago and we have become good friends. I played electric guitar on this recording which is made up of songs Huelyn wrote but didn't release in the 50's and a few he has written since. I have long been a fan of Huelyn's 50's recordings so it was a honor to be asked to participate. The 50's songs are as good as the released tunes and new songs are great! Every time I am tempted to say "they don't write songs like that any more" I recall working with Huelyn. Some people do still write songs like that.



While the influence of 50's Rockabilly and Rock 'n' Roll is strong on this recording, it is not a mechanical walk down the nostalgia path. Huelyn's songwriting was and still is honest, heartfelt, and sincere and that comes across in every tune. Huelyn's voice still has that slight "waver" that made his 50's recordings so popular too.



Pick up a copy of this CD along with "The Best of Huelyn Duvall" (on the Brazos Valley label) and you'll know that Huelyn has still got what it takes. Recommended!"
