"First of all, the Howling Bells are not a goth band. The instrumentals are excellent, but what really shines through is the lead singer's vocals really shine through on tracks such as "Low Happening" and "Setting Sun""

"This album has a sophistication and well rooted composition not often heard these days. It draws from long appreciated and a strong base of influence that has served the development of these artists' genre.
You may not be ready for this album. It's the quintessential " you gotta play it a couple of times " album before you get it, but when you do, you'll be humming " broken bones " involuntarily.
If you read reviews, set aside the repetative notion that makes comparison to PJ harvey or dark gothic representation. You'll see and feel the light that they bring to the table. If you like Neil Young, the depth that Leonard Cohen or Tom Waits can surface, the warmth and familiarity of Cherl Crow, with the clarity and conviction of Alecia Keys, all in an unassuming, outside the box, art that these Australians have crafted, do yourself a favor, put a copy in your collection and one in your car."
