Two guys, no pretenses

"It's unfortunate that it's hard to find the works of this great band. You probably never heard of House of Freaks because they didn't get any radio time. That's because this was not a commercial band. They didn't write songs they thought would sell albums, they just made music they liked. You can't even label them "alternative," or "rock-abilly (I hate that one)," or "southern-folk-blues" because they were none of these and all of these at the same time. Their songs are about the things and places they know. You can feel Brian Harvey and Johnny Hott telling you about their lives in their music."

"An outstanding finale from an under appreciated duo who released four brilliant full length CDs and one EPCD. Bryan will one day get the respect he deserves as a great songwriter. I feel blessed to have known him since 1982 when he and his first successful band, The Dads, used to grace the stages of The Kings Head Inn and The Wave in the Hampton Roads area. He was special, and his melodies will forever play in my mind."
