""House Nation America" is a house double-album from Ministry of Sound featuring one disc from Louie Vega and one from Erick Morillo. Although their mixing styles are entirely different, these discs are pretty good samples of their talents and go nicely together. Vega is known for his mellowed-out, Latin-flavored house that occasionally leans towards disco. As I have mentioned in my previous reviews, Vega's house is more likely to make you chill than make you dance, but he still comes up with some pretty impressive grooves on his 70-plus minute CD. Morillo's set, on the other hand, is the slightly better of the two discs and runs at around 69 minutes. Offering a serious blend of hard-hitting house with a touch of disco, Morillo's groove never relents from the first beat. Unlike Vega's disc, which is a bit on the mellow side, Morillo gives you beats that make you wanna dance. And, like Vega, Morillo adds a few Latin touches here and there. If you're just starting a house collection and want to get yourself familarized with both of these DJs, House Nation America is definitely the way to go. My brother had this CD for a couple years before he recommended it to me. I'm very glad he did."

"Just when I was beginning to lose faith in Little Louie Vega, I get my hands on a cd that shows there's still some stuff out there to get. This is not my favorite of Vega's work but it's better than his last two cd's I've rated. Funny thing is Erick Morillo came off a little better than Louie on this two cd set. That's a good thing though because the cd1 Vega mix was good, just found it funny that the "unknown guy" put together a better set on cd2. You get plenty of music with 71+ minutes on Little Louie Vega's mix and another 69+ minutes for Erick Morillo's mix.CD1 has a tribal house feel with the deep beats, deep basslines and the conga rhythms. The mixing and music selection are also good. This set reminds me of the Body & Soul vol. 3 cd if you've heard it before. CD1 gets 4 stars.CD2 is more traditional house. The beats and basslines are deep, and the tempo is a little faster than cd 1. The mixing here is also good quality and the music selection is excellent. One could call this a "happy house" mix. I'll be looking for more Erick Morillo material in the future. CD2 gets 5 stars.Give this double cd set a try. You get two different styles of house music and both sets are good. Erick Morillo is hot right now so that makes this extra special. This is one of the easiest Ministry of Sound cds to find so if you do, jump on it."

"House gets the royal treatment from two elder statesmen on this exceptional 2-disc set. Vega and Morillo absolutely punish with inspired sets that should please punters of all stripes. The divergent styles of the DJs keeps the album fresh for the full 2+ hour run time -- not an easy feat.Short attention span bottom line: If you like House, buy this cd. If you think you might like House, buy this cd. If you don't like House and can't understand what all the fuss is about, buy this cd."

"Excellent album! In my opinion, this is probably the best house album around. The mixing is flawless and the choice of songs are just perfect. If you enjoy a little Latin/Afro-Latin flavor in your music, you will LOVE this album. Of course, this is a MUST have album for those who are "Masters at Work" fans, like me. Little Louie Vega (disc 1) is a bit more groovy and latin-infused whereas Erik Morillo is more mainstream house. But the combination between groove and energy is what makes this album so perfect."
Any MAW fan must get this

"I picked this CD up whilst in D.C. for New Years Eve. If you're someone who likes classy house music and you also like a CD to grow on you (like the original Mushroom Jazz CD), then this is the one for you.Louie does what Louie does best - pure class mixing of pure class mixes. Not only is it soulful & jazzy with MAW beats, loops and EQ tricks, but it also has TWO Africanism tracks (any self respecting MAW fan can work the rest out) as well as some slick additions from the likes of Blaze, Joe Clausell, Jasper Street Company and Kimara Lovelace. Apart from Africanism, all these guys have been on the scene for more than 10 years - a testament to their talents and Louie's style and track selection.Eric Morillo's second CD is a worthy companion, and will be played also - but it won't touch the soul in the way only Louie can. With all respect to 'K-johnzy', he's probably right in what he says regarding being new to the music and therefore perhaps not able to appreciate the smooth MAW sound. But I guarantee if he heard Louie spin on a system worth it's salt - he'd probably buy the other 14 Louie CD's out there, if not all 18 mixed by either Louie, Kenny or MAW as a team.PS > Another class act CD I've recently picked up ; Brand New Heavies - Trunk Funk Classics. If you like Louie, you'll like this too..."
