Fantastic swinging side of Jankowski!

"People beware: The version of "A Walk In The Black Forest" included here is not the original recorded by Jankowski in 1964, but a second version recorded by him in 1967, when Horst had moved on to play in a more sophisticated, jazzier style. The original easy listening version was great (and a major hit for Jankowski), and we fans can only urge Universal Music to finally put out these early recordings, but the tracks put together on this compilation are great too! Jankowski and his quartet swing breathtakingly, always melodic and sparkling, even fans of Oscar Peterson will have to admit that this is brilliant jazz. Full of sophistication. You get great versions of well knows standards too, as well as some fine Jankowski originals, with occasional backings by the Jankowski Singers. Lovely, and lovingly remastered too!"

"I own a single (45 RPM) of the title selection, A Walk in the Black Forest, performed by Horst Jankowski; the one on the CD is a different and disappointing recording."
