Amazon.comThis unusual ensemble, based (like the record label) in Belgium, specializes in horn trios. This makes it particularly surprising that the Brahms Trio, while pretty well played, is the least successful performance on the disc. Everybody does their parts accurately and with some impulse, but the whole performance doesn't quite gel. The Beethoven Sonata, however, is a lot of fun in this performance, Cherubini's piece is also quite entertaining, and the Schumann --while similar in style to the Brahms--is completely successful. If you're willing to put up with only pretty good Brahms, this is a worthwhile disc for anyone who loves the sound of the horn and its music. --Leslie Gerber
