CD Reviews

Not outstanding, but definitely above one star!

"PLEASE DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE BELOW REVIEW WHEN DECIDING IF YOU SHOULD PURCHASE THIS CD! The person is apparently going by the audio samples! I have this CD and the sound is SUPERB! It's not up to the digital standards of current music, but what recordings from that era are? (And there are NO incomplete songs on the disc.) The only real complaint I have with this collection is that most of the songs are in the same vein. Given a few hundred cuts to choose from, the makers decided to go with nearly all pop/ballad type songs. No instrumentals are included, and not much faster paced, swing-ier type songs included... Oh well, at least they had enough sense to leave it in mono instead of going for pseudo-stereo effects."

"I heard -G'bye Now- through cable TV, on-demand> music choice> Big Band & Swing.

It was then that I learned about this CD. I found it here on Amazon, purchased it and I'm so glad that I did.

Sometimes you know what you like but don't know a song title or performer name to assign to it.

I had no idea that these songs were performed by Horace Heidt & company, some I'd heard a long time ago and which have become hard to find and obscure.

Most are really great but of special notice to me were titles such as these:

Ti-Pi-Tin, The Hut-Sut Song, B-I-Bi, The Man With The Mandolin, Gone With The Wind, and of course my instigation to make the purchase, G'bye Now.

Anthology albums seem to miss this music for some odd reason. They always include certain items and forget others such as these gems. Too bad for us all.

These now forgotten songs weren't obscure in the 30's or 40's and are still swell to listen to.

Sound quality is clear and of good fidelity.

I thoroughly enjoy this CD and with repeated plays have found myself liking it more all the time.

This is a great addition to any collection, buy it before it's gone again.
