"Hood are better than Pavement (whom I adore), better than Sonic Youth and Mogwai and Flying Saucer Attack (all of whom I respect) and combine elements from Palace and Wedding Present and Slint and improve upon their ingredients. This is stellar stuff with a mood for everyone up its sleeve. Hood's harder to find lps "Structured Disasters" "Cabled Linear Traction" and "Rustic Houses, Forlorn Valleys" are also worth tracking down if you love innovative heart-felt indie music, but this is the best one to begin with for newcomers to Hood's exceptional aesthetic."
