"Homesick James has been fairly well known (at least around Chicago) as one of the old-school bluesmen from the South. He's more well-known as the cousin to the great Elmore James. Here, on this set, Homesick sets aside his electric guitar and amplifier and settles in on the acoustic 6-string for some old-fashioned country blues. Homesick's voice is straight out of 1930's Mississippi and so is his guitar style. The slide comes out on several cuts here and Homesick really makes the strings weep and moan with it. If you like Robert Johnson, Son House, Bukka White, etc. you'll like Homesick James' "Goin' Back Home"."
