"Amazon doesn't at this point (3/23/02) have the songlist up, so here it is:
Low Down Dog
Don't Seem Right
New Reuben's Train
Voodoo Queen Marie
Chittlin' Cooking Time in Cheatem County
Nova
Sally in the Alley
More to be pitied
Rocky Road
Across the Alley from the Alamo
Synergy
Red Rocking Chair
Random Canyon
Monday Morning
Shoot that Turkey Buzzard
This is a splendid album - my favorite of all their work. It is a perfect blend between old-time folk and acid rock, with new lyrics that are at times poignant at times beautifully weird. , and always truer than life itself. This is the album to start off on (It has been my favorite album since I was 5)
Time capsules sure are different from time bombs!"
I swear I already reviewed this...

"...but since I can't seem to find that review online, I thought I'd just mention that this is INDEED the finest of the HMR discs; Weber isn't as present as fans of his might like, but it's still a great deal of fun, and Stampfel (joined by Luke Faust and Robin Remailly) is in peak form. The Japanese gatefold LP-style cover is quite attractive, replicating the original, for the most part; unfortunately, the liner notes for the original LP (mostly softcore hippie porn written by Stampfel and Antonia, and Stampfel's musings on the history of the band) have been replaced with a Japanese translation -- but, well, we can't have everything. Amusingly, on the spine of my copy of this, the Japanese label, Vivid, have actually MISSPELLED "Alleged" -- they have it as ALLENGED IN THEIR OWNTIME, which I guess is pretty close. These Japanese reissues don't last forever, and some of them are rare enough to fetch hundreds on auction sites (and that's for albums that are otherwise in print and readily available, like CSNY's DEJA VU). Fans should get this while they can, or risk feeling obliged to kick themselves later..."

"I'm hoping Amazon actually does have this CD, as they're not that easy to locate. Of the many most wonderful HMR discs, this is one of the best IMHO. Random Canyon, Shoot That Turkey Buzzard (with beautifully deranged additional verses inserted with the old-timey ones), and Voodoo Queen Marie are simply phenomenal. I mean, where else can you find lines like, "In my mislocated mesa, with my counterfeit contessa, who's the secretary to the local grange?""
