"This album has the feel of something thrown together quickly to satisfy a contract obligation. It contains relatively few L. Ransford originals. Two of those originals "Hard Hard Year" and "Fifi the Flea" are great songs but were done in so sloppy a fashion as to undercut their own merit. Check out the Everly Brothers' superior versions on "Two Yanks in England." Only "Oriental Sadness" is truly satisfying with its delightfully half-baked eastern effects. The covers, however, include some great moments. "I Take What I Want" is an unlikely Sam & Dave cover, but it rocks! "I am a Rock" is perfectly suited to the middle period Hollies sound. "Don't You Even Care" sounds like a candidate for single release. "Sweet Little Sixteen" reveals how erudite the band was: the entire arrangement is lifted from the obscure Michael Cox version of the song produced by Joe Meek in 1961. "I Can't Let Go" is a fullscale classic, but can be obtained on one of the hits collections. "That's How Strong My Love Is" just drags; be kind and don't compare it to Barrett Strong's original or the Rolling Stones' cover. I recommend this album only for the real Hollies fan."
