"Along with the Peer Gynt Suites and the Piano Concerto, another of Grieg's best works is his "Holberg Suite", a charming piece of nostalgia for string ensemble. Here Ross Pople and the London Festival Orchestra give a wonderful performance of this work along with other folk-influenced and tender works for string ensemble. Grieg's gift for melody is always front and center in these works that often have a melancholy feel to them. Just beautiful works that should be better known than they are.A bargain for Grieg fans and any lover of sentimental music."
