Synopsis

Album Description
With 3 million sales to their credit already, HIM are set to transcend their cult status and break into the mainstream with the release of their new single `Wings Of A Butterfly'. The first single to be taken from their forthcoming album `Dark Light', the hauntingly dynamic `Wings Of A Butterfly' is classic HIM, the kind of tales of love and desire that inspire fans to worship at the altar of the almighty Heartagram. Title track backed by 'And Love Said No (616 version), 'Vampire Heart' (live), and the video for 'Wings Of A Butterfly'. Sire. 2005.

A new rebirth of HIM
deus ex mecca | Miami, FL United States | 09/14/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Wings of a Butterfly is just another step in evolution for the greatest goth-rock/love metal band, H-I-M. For the first time, H-I-M is debuting in America, and Wings of a Butterfly is their impact track. I must admit, when I first heard the song, I was a bit taken back because it is very different. It isn't as melancholic as their other songs and it isn't as dark as I had come to expect. Instead, 'Butterfly' is a very deep song with a nice opening guitar riff. Linde's opening makes for a hypnotic spin that just takes you round and round. Ville's vocals are as always spell-binding, taking you from reality into his gothic-melancholy world of blind romance. The sound of this song is very alternative/hard rock with a blend of the H-I-M love metal twist. This song is nothing like their previous efforts, but if I had to compare, I would say it had the rockability of "Razorblade Romance." Vampire Heart is a nice added bonus, and it's about time H-I-M wrote a 'vampire song.' This is just a sign for things to come for H-I-M. Keep your eyes out for the Dark Light is rising."
