CD ReviewsPsychommunity, gate 7 psyentific | psychommunity, gate 7c | 01/14/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "hide makes it very hard to forget him. It's been nearly 4 years now since he passed on, yet so many of us are still wandering aimlessly through his psychommunity. And to what end? Will it solve anything? Could it possibly make our lives more meaningful? Some would say 'yes,' and I guess it's for that reason that hide's work continues to be appreciated and purchased. I'd reccomend 'Psyence' for the strange ones lurking on the fringe. ^_~" One of THE best albums of all time psyentific | 08/29/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "I truly believe that 'Psyence' by Hide is one of the greatest albums ever created. It's such a shame that Hide never really broke into the western market as people are really missing out on some of the best rock music ever created. This album is so brilliant that I won't even attempt to go through it song by song - although I would like to say that aside from two short interludes (Odeo Cowboys and Cafe le Psyence), every track on this album is phenomenal. Not a weak point anywhere. The reason why I disclude the interludes is because they are not *really* actual songs, but serve rather to give the album a sense of cohesiveness. My main point for writing this review is this: Don't be put off by the fact that this album is (mostly) in Japanese. I found that not being able to understand the majority of the lyrics actually enhanced my listening experience. It's hard to explain why, but I think it may be because a) it allows you to focus on the music, and b) it allows you to focus on the way Hide sings, not what he sings. Even though I can't understand what he's saying, I still find songs like 'Goodbye' and 'Flame' extremely powerful. If you are considering buying this album, do not hesitate. I do not usually say this about albums, but I think in this case it is justified. 'Psyence' rides a thin line of simultaneously being original and innovative while also being very listener - friendly (unlike, for example, Mr. Bungle). In short, it has unlimited universal appeal. Oh, and everything I just said? Ditto for his other two albums, Ja Zoo and Hide Your Face." Psyence and Psycomunity by Hide! Tier | Warsaw Poland | 01/19/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "I'll say shortly. I lve this album. I love his songs and I think that if you are a fan of J Rock, or rock at all, yo should have the CD. He was kind of a father, an idol for sure, for many great guitarists, as he was as brilliant, as he was. He was one of the best guitarists living at that time and had a great talent. The CD is really worth having, if only for Good Bye, LEMONED I scream, Misery or DOD."
