"A super re-issue of three LPs from the Sixties on two CDs. Herbert Rehbein was an arranger for Bert Kaempfert and it is his orchestra that you hear on these CDs. The first twelve tracks are from the 'Music to Soothe That Tiger' released in 1964 and these are the tracks I like best, romantic strings playing really slow dreamy arrangements, featuring the sax of Emil Wurster. The use of the sax as the solo instrument was very typical of German easy listening orchestras at the time.
The second LP, 'Love After Midnight' released in 1967, has eleven tracks split over the two discs and is a bit more up-tempo and there is a much wider melody selection, from Neil Hefti's 'Lil Darlin', the Beatles 'Yesterday' to the Yellen and Pollack 'My Yiddesche Momme. The trumpet is the dominant instrument on these tracks.
The third LP, '...And so to Bed' released in 1969, is interesting because many of the twelve tracks have a very distinctive Kaempfert sound (like 'Spanish Eyes' for instance) but look at the track listing and you'll see that Bert was the writer and arranger with Rehbein for eleven of the melodies. The violin is the solo instrument on these selections.
The thirty-five tracks on the two discs are beautiful examples of the best of continental European easy listening with lush strings and gorgeous arrangements all with a wonderful dreamy quality. Easy doesn't get better than this and like me you'll be playing these discs for a long, long time."

"This one gets 5 stars easy.Herbert Rehbein is another important beautiful music artist. He often backed Bert Kempfert but he also did albums himself usually with the lush heavy strings behind them. This 2 disc sets has 3 of his albums on it.A lot of the songs on this cd get played reguarly on Sunny Xm 24 Xm's beautiful music channel.Love after Midnight,Lady,Prisioner of Love and quiet a few others are played on Sunny.I also recommend a new cd coming Oct 12th from Collectibles by Percy Faith called Columbia Singles 1950-1951.This will have at least 25 singles by Faith that haven't been on cd till now."

"This "Music" is beyond the stars, there are not enough to define it.
Can't find the words to describe this CD, no matter what I think it's not complete. The truth is that this music is out of Time/Space, it's here, there, everywhere, anytime...nothing more nothing less!
I have the first LP (first 12 songs) in Italy it was called "LOVE" and I can say there is love at 360° in each single note of this music. The Quality of this CD, wonderful STEREO, is superior.
Alone or not alone, thinking, talking, dining or whatever let this music take you where you "LOVE" to go.
Ciao,
Franco"

"If you enjoy the Sax or Violin, DO NOT pass this music up. Words simply cannot describe the beauty of this instrumental albumn. The Sax always sounds delightful by itself. The Violin, on the other hand, on this albumn is Exceptional!!! I've NEVER heard it played as beautiful as on these two CD's."
